For the Record

I've been thinking about this for a while now...a good month or two...and I've decided that funk music will be making a comeback sometime in the next 3-5 years.  I'm not saying so much as the styles and whatnot, but certain elements, especially the funk sounding guitar and possibly the beats.  It'll probably have a pop feel with funk overtones.

Just wanted to go on the record and say that so that when it does happen and I say "I called that", I'll have proof so people can't just say "yeah...right...sure you did"

First and foremost...this is not a rant...merely this is just some words that I wish to share with everyone in order to lift their spirits up...again...this is not directed at anyone in particular...I just know of many people who could use these words right about now

Second, I welcome the negativity to the extent that I can deal with it, help remove it, and help you help yourself with it.  There are limits to my abilities.  There are also limits to my capacities.  When either approach the overflow level, I will let you know...until that point if you need me I'm here.  Currently I am no where near my capacity limit and the ability limit comes and goes with the situation

With that said, here are the words of wisdom:

“a rainbow is a prism that sends shards of multicolored light in various directions.  It lifts our spirits and makes us think of what is possible.  Hope is the same – a personal rainbow of the mind” (Snyder, 2002, p.269).

Snyder, C.R. (2002). Hope theory: rainbows in the mind. Psychological Inquiry, 13(4), 249-275.

Nothing is scarier than sitting alone in a dark room with many windows during a thunderstorm late at night...and I mean that in a good, fun way...well there is one more way it could get scarier...if a killer were on the loose and all of a sudden the power went...........................................

I don't get how some famous people can get away with telling the same story over and over again without making any other really significant points

Wangari Maathai for example

For those of you who don't know, Maathai won the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in saving the environment, such as The Green Belt Movement

Anyways

Because the Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway, my Norweigan College gets to hear the winners speak very often...hence I got to hear Wangari Maathai speak

She told a story about a hummingbird...which I found out she talked about in Germany when Anja told me about it...then I was watching TV and she was on...talking about the hummingbird again...I'm just as good at repeating myself as she is...why don't I get to be on TV for it?

Also, honorary doctorates sometimes make me mad...for example...Lance Armstrong...he overcame cancer, came up with the "Livestrong" bands, and is a 7 time victor of the Tour de France...yes, he is a great person, but he chose to claim his greatness in the athletic field and not the academic field...do we see the chemists and such getting in to the Football or Baseball Hall of fame?  I don't think so...so honorary doctorates, IMOHO, should NOT be given doctorates as it disgraces those people who have had their own struggles and hardships and, in spite of all this, completed all the requirements for their doctorate

Ok...I'm done for now...if you ever get famous, don't accept honorary doctorates without doing the doctorate work and get new material for speeches on a constant basis
